Today “the ladies” (aka, my mother, my sister and myself) cycled 18 miles to Basalt. Gorgeous views, sunny skies and sore butts ensued. It was the bomb diggity. In the meantime, Taryn (my other sis) was picked up from the a-port. At the mo, we’re all relaxin (reading, napping, checking emails, etc…) while the big M whips together a delicious home-cooked meal.
Yesterday we hoola-hooped atop Aspen Mountain. It was…enjoyable.

More snaps from Ashcroft and Aspen.
Why am I afraid of ghosts, when I know they don’t exist? If only they (they, as in, those things that don’t exist) were adorable ghosts, preferably made out of frosting. Then they wouldn’t be so scary. Thing is, I think my fear is also inherently tied to the fact that I am genuinely afraid of the dark. And that’s where the ghosts always like to hang out. Because they’re sneaky like that.

Rouge Against the Machine…
when in doubt, dazzle with pretty sounds and lights.
In light of tomorrow’s big hike (Cathedral Lake, a total of about 7 miles) we decided to take it easy today. We slept in, chatted, drank some coffee, lollygagged for a bit and then eventually made our way into town to visit the pharmacy (for some powerful sunscreen, floss and other essentials). After that, we picked up some delicious sandwiches from Aspen’s “Grateful Deli” to lunch on alfresco at the Ashcroft ghost town while mom took a brisk bike ride.
After making our way to Ashcroft (and enjoying a tasty lunch), Alex and I explored the interesting and creepy little ghost town. Here are some snaps.

WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
Not exactly. My mother picked the name out of a book; however, Ariana (Latin for Ariadne), in Greek mythology, was Dionysus’ wife (Dionysus, as everyone knows, is the coolest god - the god of wine and revelry). Mom is a big history buff, so the name’s historical significance is fitting.
